Remote assessment. Remote assessment has come to the fore during the COVID-19 pandemic. With or without a pandemic, a Care Act assessment, in order to be compliant with the legislation, must be “appropriate and proportionate”., It must also ensure that the person being assessed is able to participate as effectively as possible. A recent ombudsman case, involving a telephone assessment, illustrates the point: Lancashire County Council (19 019 811) (December 2020).
